Z Scale This 36’ wood sheathed ice reefer with truss rod underframe is painted brown with yellow sides, white and red logo, with black herald and lettering. End lettering is in white. The car was built in January 1911 by General American, repainted in July 1934, and runs on Bettendorf trucks. It was a single car repainted for Manhattan Brewing Company of Chicago, brewers of ‘Old Manhattan” lager. The leasing of refrigerator cars to brewing companies became a flourishing business after prohibition ended in 1933.
