Built in 1949 and serviced in the late 1960s, these steel-side ice reefers were equipped with grates that could be adjusted for stage icing. Western Fruit Express was founded by Great Northern Railway and Fruit Growers Express to offer another shipping option in competing with Pacific Fruit Express in Western states.
