These ATSF RR-51-class ice reefers featured air circulating fans to help ensure uniform temperatures throughout the car. They were built in 1928 as a wood-side reefers, and rebuilt to modern standards - including new riveted steel sides - in 1952 by ATSF. Founded in 1859, Santa Fe was one of the largest railroads in North America up until 1995, when it merged with Burlington Northern to form BNSF.
